Strong Women in BSG

WiredBlog Underwire has an interesting post Strong Women Steer Battlestar Galactica's Final Voyage.

Weather you agree that Sci-Fi has advanced from it's male-dominated geek fandom (I love Sci-Fi BTW and am a huge fan of BSG) or not, they make a good point regarding the character Six, who started the series as seductive eye-candy

"That preconception was strengthened by the fact that I came from a modeling background and had just started acting. People went, 'model-turned-actress, in a red dress, blonde hair: great!' Luckily, throughout the season we got to prove that wasn't the case.... Reducing Six to just a sex object would have been a little bit one note, and that wasn't what it was about."

Not sure about the list on the left though... "Femme Fatales" sort of misses the point. And they left out Zoe Washburn (Gina Torres).
