According to posts at AllAfrica.com and the Cameroon Tribune, Cameroon has adopted the theme of "Ending Violence against Women and Girls: From Words to Action" for their International Women's Day celebrations.
The main focus of this theme appears to be challenging journalists and the media to not "only talk about violent acts suffered by women and girls but also to be committed in making sure that it stops" and to not only "report on what NGOs do as far as violence against women is concerned but also to report on the theme of the celebration so that the message will go beyond the 8th of March".
All members of the media that attended the press conference were given white ribbons and urged to commit to never remaining silent about violence against women.
