Happy New Year

I am blogging from my couch this week, it's going to be awesome.

I am also in the middle of reading a graphic novel collection called Y: The Last Man in which a plague wipes out every living creature with a y-chromosome (ie males) except from one man and his monkey.

It's an extremely riveting look at what would happen if "40% of the global population, or a pproximately 29 billion men... 495 of the fortune 500 CEOs... 99% of the world's landowners... 95% of all commercial pilots, truck drivers and ship captains and 99% of all mechanics, electricians and construction workers" suddenly died of a mysterious "gendercidal" plague.

I am only a few books into the 60 book series and so far there have been some fairly controversial issues, like a roving band of women know as the "Daughters of the Amazon" who have all surgically removed one breast and are hunting the last man down at all costs, but they serve to point out that 95% of all violent crimes are perpetrated by a very small number of the male population.

Although it started in 2002, the issues it deals with are still relevant today. I'll post more as I read this week.
