In the past few years, Turkey has reformed laws and adopted new ones. The army puts its recruits (every Turkish male) through a day focused on violence against women, fatherhood, reproductive health, and respect for women. The UN Population Fund trained senior police, who, in just one year, trained 40,000 police officers on implementing the new laws. Training is starting for doctors, nurses, and social workers. The Prime Minister and the imam who heads the Ministry of Religious Affairs have appeared in a TV commercial.
