White Ribbon Town

The Town Council of Hebden Royd, an area in the UK near Manchester that encompasses Hebden Bridge and the surrounding areas, has the honour of of officially dubbing itself the first "White Ribbon Town".

With the help of Chris Green, WRCUK Coordinator (and Cosmo Man of the Year 2007), the council "will be supporting the campaign to ensure that men take more responsibility for reducing the level of violence against women."
I think the most frightening thing Chris said was that according to the World Bank, violence against women causes more deaths and disability among women aged 15-44 than cancer, malaria, traffic accidents, and war.

-Mayor Councillor Nader Fekri
We would like to congratulate the town council for their courage in officially implementing and supporting the campaign, and of course Chris Green for his continued and tireless support of White Ribbon Campaign.
